WONDER WOMEN ART EXHIBITION
28 April-2 May 2024 - In conjunction with Mother’s Day, we formed a meaningful collaboration with Art Market Malaysia, a valued long-term partner whose founder, Puan Rita Hatta, is a person with disabilities (OKU). Together, we honored women through the powerful medium of art appreciation by partnering with Art Market Malaysia to host the “Wonder Women Art Exhibition.” This initiative aimed to raise the standard of art and provide a platform for over 150 artists and women-led businesses to gain growth and recognition. The exhibition showcased the work of local and international artists, celebrating themes of femininity, strength, and resilience. We offered Art Market Malaysia rental-free use of two large spaces: the Ground Atrium and an empty lot on Level 3. These spaces allowed them to display and sell artworks from over 80 artists, including disabled, local, international, and women artists. Additionally, they used the space to conduct art therapy sessions and workshops, enriching visitor engagement and supporting artist development. To extend our appreciation for women globally, we also featured Afri-Lamps FHK, a Ugandan women-owned business showcasing unique colors and prints inspired by African tapestry. The owner, Ms. Catherine Opondo, is a social entrepreneur, public speaker, singer, and advocate for girl-child empowerment. We provided them with a dedicated space within our venue to exhibit and sell their products, and Ms. Opondo was present at her booth to share her journey and insights into African artistry and entrepreneurship. This initiative celebrated diversity, promoted cross-cultural understanding, and empowered women worldwide by showcasing their talents and stories. The campaign successfully highlighted over 100 paintings from local and international women artists and resulted in the sale of 10 paintings, generating nearly RM10,000 in sales.
